The Appraiser's Forum has a link to an AMC deadbeat list that has been developed by contributors to the site.
I have no way of checking the veracity of this listing, so use it with your own discretion. I am posting this in the event it is useful to any of you who work with AMCs.

Appraisalport.com is a SCAM
ReplyDeleteAppraisalport.com is a scam, DONOT USE THEM. The make promises that they have no intension of keeping. They constantly pay late, avoid paying at all until you harass them and then they lie about haveing sent payment out. I was an appraiser for them but I had to stop due to constant late payments from Appraisalport.com. As a business owner, I don't have the luxury of waiting 3-6 months for payment. After reading the many complaints about this company I see I am not alone.
America Home Key has been added to the list for me. I had a check returned NSF 2 months ago. At this point, their accounting department, their assistants, one of the big bosses and her assistant all are aware of me due to my multiple emails and messages, however, from what i can tell, they have made no efforts to correct this and now, they don't even respond to me.
ReplyDeleteWashington National Mortgage based out Skagit county in Washington state is another. I have won a small claim against them but they disappeared into the woodwork. They didn't even show up for court.
Update from America Home Key. Accounting has now stated that they are not authorized to re-issue bad checks and that their company is going through some changes. Before this, they stated that they could not re-issue bad checks as they were workng on issuing tax statements. Looks like I'm getting the runaround. My recommendation would be to not do any business with these folks. If they currently owe you past due fees or issued you a bad check, good luck collecting.

ReplyDeleteInteresting you mention this because we are going through the same issue with America Home Key with our appraisal business. They issued 3 bad checks back in December and we can't get anyone to respond to emails or anyone to answer their phone. do you have a contact of someone who actually answers their phone you would pass along? thank you!
Still no response to phone calls or emails. Today I spoke with somebody who was "let go" from AHK about a month ago. He said that AHK is being purchased by WestStar. He also said that either the owner, the company, or both are trying to go bankrupt. Said that about half of the staff at AHK was "let go" within the last month and that it's absolute chaos there. I called again, multiple times, to AHK today. In my last call, I asked to speak with the person listed on the internet as the CEO ( http://www.jigsaw.com/id64640/1/america_home_key_company_directory.xhtml ), Lane Terrell. I was put on hold then the line went dead. When I tried to call back, even the front desk operator won't answer the phone now. It's looks bleak, but I'm not done quite yet ...
